September 2026

A week hiking in the Dolomites, layoffs at work, and the wall-art project gets more updates.

A week in the Dolomites. Woke up at 4:15 AM on the 5th, picked up Bogdi, Vlad, Zack and Lore, and drove to Hungary, stopping in Gyor for goulash and ice cream. Next day, 6 more hours to Valle di Cadore: pasta and a few hours walking around a beautiful town with mountains all around.

Then five days of hiking:

  • Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Cadini di Misurina: ~15km. Amazing views, good food, a lot of photos. Felt just fine.
  • A chill 7km through the woods, on protein bars and nuts. Then Cortina, where very expensive shops and expensive, bad restaurants robbed us. The ice cream was good though.
  • Rifugio Nuvolau and Averau loop: 8km in 5.5 hours, a lot of rain and bad weather, still very beautiful. Then a new reservation that was...
  • Seceda, Geotrail 11: 10.3km.
  • Puflatsch Panorama tour, Seiser Alm: 9.3km, beautiful views, very good food, nice weather. The last day.

Then 15 hours of driving home. This world is amazing. We just need to discover it (and build more highways).

Another round of layoffs at work on the 1st. I made it through.

The wall-art project kept growing. Redesigned the free tool, built a hub page, and researched a Pinterest related tool.

Also did the initial setup for a new project: a storage-space site. And some company admin: a notary visit and monthly accounting.

Health checks. Finished my 10 sessions of kinetotherapy and physio, my 2026 reset.

Mornings were hard again. Woke up at 8 instead of 6:30 more than once. Maybe it's the window blinds, maybe I need a special alarm. A few good ones: before 7 AM, reading, coffee, accounting, then side work.

Getting the house ready. Sealing in the bathroom and shower, fixed a bathroom sink, picked up the long-awaited IKEA order, mounted the new furniture and a third wardrobe in the garage.

Family and friends. My parents visited for the weekend: a beautiful day together and dinner at Cimbru. The next day, Thomas's blessing. Before the trip: Matei, Bogdi and the girls, and lunch with Dragos from ZH after a bike ride through the city. After it: a meetup with Cristi, Sanyi and Beatrice over at ours, a walk in the park with Mary, and dinner with her at Manger (new name, amazing food).

Health: 6 gym sessions (2 at home), one 6k run, a sauna after a long break, and ~50km of hiking.

By the Numbers

  • 5 days hiking in the Dolomites (~50km)
  • 1 round of layoffs
  • 1 $29 sale
  • 10 physio sessions finished
  • 6 gym sessions
  • 1 run (6km)
  • 4 meetups with friends

You were high, September 2026.
